Resident in Counseling Job Description
Mind Play is a mental health counseling private practice in the Gainesville Haymarket area, focusing on trauma treatment, play therapy, and specializing in children, teens, and adults who struggle with multiple diagnoses (i.e. ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, anxiety disorders, depression). We also have a high investment in ongoing learning, and will help pay to train our team with skills such as EMDR, Internal Family Systems, CPT, and more.
Key Responsibilities
You must be seeking to be a Licensed Professional Counselor, LPC in Virginia (not LCSW or psychologist). In this job, your responsibilities will include: Providing individual, play therapy, and group therapy sessions for children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families.
Completing paperwork for each client including psychotherapy intake notes, treatment plans, and progress notes for each session. You will have to be willing to take training specializing in interventions such as EMDR, Internal Family Systems, and Motivational Interviewing.
Specific Requirements
Applicants must have a master’s degree from an accredited university in Mental Health Counseling and have completed their internship hours. You will receive onsite supervision included in your compensation, and have a goal of eventual licensure in the State of Virginia. You will be willing to work flexibly including evenings and weekends.
Working Conditions
You will need to do both in office and telehealth depending on client needs. Additional Details We will provide a flexible working environment with a lot of autonomy. We require absolute digital processing of all paperwork, so you must be good with computers and applications that support healthcare and office applications. You will most likely have some clients at the start transitioning from a previous counselor, and should reach a full case load within a month or so of starting. Most importantly, you have to believe in the balance of seeing many different kinds of clients, especially children, because about 40% of our clients are teens and children. You will need to be willing to learn how to do play therapy, and any experience, classes, or training you have in play therapy will be a bonus. We will also pay for more training and even working toward certification in areas of interest.
Job Types : Contract Full Time (25-30 client facing hours, pay for client facing hours only) Pay: $40-45 per hour

Mind Play is a mental health counseling private practice in the Gainesville, Manassas, Haymarket, Warrenton, Virginia area, focusing on trauma treatment, play therapy, and specializing in children, teens, and adults who struggle with multiple diagnoses (i.e. ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, anxiety disorders, depression). We also invest in ongoing learning, and will help pay to train our team in skills such as EMDR, Internal Family Systems, CPT, and more. Our interns will learn all the counseling basics, while helping clients of all ages, cultures, and socio-economic backgrounds. Mind Play, LLC treats clients ages 3 to 103, allowing our interns and residents to counsel as many populations as possible.
